Ice breaking

We survived! Our first concert was even better than we expected. Tiffany was crowded to the very last corner, feedback was fantastic and the audience loved us. We loved them even more for making us feel so great.

They seem to want more and so do we. Hopefully soon.

Lavender bags

One of very useful things my mother has taught never to waste potentially usable materials. And before you ask - no, I am not one of those manic plastic bottles or garbage collectors. Her philosophy on economizing is mostly about re usage of things like old shirts, mops, buttons, cups, pots etc.

So for this occasion we had some domestic lavender fun with old piece of fabric. I guess I was inspired after reading Arto Passilinna's famous "rabbit" book. So this is what I started with

And wrapped it up like this...

After:

I think I'm gonna give them away this x-mas :)

(B)ad ideas

I have a secret passion for ads. Not so much to enjoy them really, but more to figure out where the ideas come from. And some of the ideas are simply too deep for me to comprehend so I need to spit them out.

This two have been bugging me for some time and I just couldn't resist not to blog them:

Cigar shop
- in the kingdom of smoke. Now, I don't really know any non/smoker who would find this slogan appealing. Let me see...kingdom of smoke...is a place to go when you feel you have too much oxygen in your lungs or when you want to feel the meaning of Smoke gets in your eyes? Stinky fetish maybe? Nope, still not convinced.

Insurance company
. Would I really believe a company that advertises "happy patients"? If their insurance is so great, then why would this patient measure the temperature by himself? Can't afford a nurse? Tempting offer indeed. Besides, the silly expression on his face...well, let's just say "Thanks, but no thanks". I am a cranky patient and if I'd ever look like that I wouldn't be smiling for sure. No, I'd expect to get served by a sexy nurse. Make that two.

To be honest I really prefer ads that are not ads. Like this one (my mother is the most beautiful). Says a lot and makes me feel warm. Go no ads!

New beginning

Lately I've been reading a lot about new beginnings. Sometimes they are hard, sometimes exciting, but more or less somehow emotional. Usually I started them with a new haircut, but not this time.

So...I'm leaving my old job which was to be completely honest the best job I ever had. Despite occasional stress periods, lack of money and lack of healthy life style most of the time (started to drink coffe again, visited food machines a bit too often and got hooked on smoking). My co -workers were absolutely fantastic and even though I am looking forward to my new beginning, I know I will miss them a lot.

I thought it would be easy, but now I feel kinda sad for leaving. Obviously not sad enough to stay.

I got the sweetest goodbye present ever.... and almost cried. Something I wanted for a long time but was simply too lazy to go and get it.

Must be strong even if girls do cry.

Postal electro pop

Thanks to Lastfm alternative rock radio I recently discovered Postal service even if their first album "Such great hights" was released already in 2003. Almost immediately I downloaded everything I could get from them. As I noticed they also do remakes (on the other hand who doesn't) of some good old sentish songs like Against all odds. Glad to know that postal service is not only about mail ;)

Although I am not too big fan of pop music, I go crazy about good electro pop and this is definitely good enough to win a fair place on my Party Playlist.

You will hear it again next time in Monokel (28th July) on "Fuck Barbie" after party.

Friday night party

Finally Friday!

Allthough I will be working all weekend on our band performance I will have this friday night for pleasure only. Even if it is the 13th. So tonight I will be warming up the dance floor of the same old place.

Join me - I will paint it black :)

Flirting with technology

Can sometimes be dangerous. Especially if you are not 100% sure who is on the other side. I was 99% sure - I guess that 1% can make a difference.

It was a messy situation with lots of queer folk. I got a sweet goodbye note and SMS from person A. Or at least that is what I thought. I was so certain that I didn't even bother to check the dialing number.

So we text flirted for few months....until yesterday. Of course I asked the wrong question and got a confused answer. She got the point very quickly and told me who she was, so I finally admited I thought she was someone else.

She was hurt, offended and far from being amused by the situation. Because she was not person A, who is also my friend (and I assumed she was just joking with all the flirting thing). No, she was a person B with serious intentions, invitations and feelings.

I feel like a real flirting bitch. Will not make the same mistake again...

Toxicity

On cold days like this I have lust for some hard music. I am not sure whether this depends on the weather, my mood or the combination of both. Usually I feed my desire with some Rammstein, Laibach or System of a Down.

This Armenian new metal band totally lifts me up in any kind of weather. Their music is direct and powerful yet very emotional. I absolutely adore them for their lyrics and for not singing about bitches, dicks or trivial things. Their dedication to "the real" might be connected to Armenian history, even if they were formed in the Los Angeles about 12 year ago.

Gotta love them.

Rainbow tortillas

How to satisfy six hungry musicians with different food preferences? Definitely a big enough challenge to try out something fresh, new and a bit exotic. Not too much though - grilled insects or tree worms are absolutely too daring for any of us.

So we tried some tortillas instead - small, cute and just a little bit spicy. Since we couldn't borrow "Tortillas for dummies" we just made up our own kind. What to put in?

A lot of Nachos, Parmesan, some random cheese and of course vegetables. It was after-Pride meal so we created our very own vegetable rainbow from:
  • onion,
  • tomatoes,
  • peppers,
  • aubergines,
  • zucchini,
  • corn.
After few minutes wok vegetables were ready to meet fresh tortillas (fresh from the supermarket that is) and our empty stomachs. Yummy!

Don't judge the book by its covers!

I already confessed about my everlasting love for books. Well, today and tomorrow I will become one of the books. Sounds strange enough?

The project living library will be happening whole weekend and even those of you, who don't really like to read can borrow a book from the library and talk to him/her. Ask whatever you always wanted to know about their stereotypes, but never really had a chance. And of course don't forget treat the books with respect and dignity they deserve.

Opening hours:

Friday: from 2 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Sunday: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Apple iPhone - Most Ripped Gadget Ever?

Apple sure has it's way of sellings things. I mean Mac's are so damn beautiful I wouldn't mind owning one eventhough I don't really need it (my HP laptop is still very much alive and kicking).

And iPods seem to bring a whole new fashion of white ear phones. I've never seen so many people using white ones ever before. Even if most of them are only simulating having an iPod while hiding their regular mp3 players in their pockets. Of course you can see even more of iPod look a likes. Probably much cheaper but still so damn sexy.

I admit, I don't have an iPod, but one of those "so last year" mp3 players and it still does the trick for me. Luckily I am a sucker for black color.
